Rwanda has identified a shortage of a workforce with the ability to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats. Due its borders with countries that have continuously tackled outbreaks of epidemic proportions combined with the unique fact that Rwanda is one of the most densely populated countries on earth, it becomes evident that the need for developing a workforce capable of countering human and animal disease threats is a top priority. The USAID One Health Workforce partners at the University of Rwanda work to combat infectious disease spread within their country. To further this mission, they have worked with partners at the University of Minnesota and their national government to use OH-SMART to synthesize country needs and validate results. The reports are now available for public use.
