Cameroon is a Central African country on the Gulf of Guinea that is often dubbed as “Africa in miniature” because of its geographical and cultural diversity. The countries epidemiological profile remains dominated by communicable diseases and potentially epidemic diseases such as cholera and yellow fever still cause outbreaks from time to time in Cameroon.
Cameroon became a member of the OHCEA network in 2015 and since then, the Universite des Montagnes (UdM) Veterinary School, and University of Buea Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences have been affiliated with the network. Both universities are strengthening university programs to incorporate and strengthen technical and cross-sectoral training to detect, prevent, and respond to infectious disease threats.
