Democratic Republic of Congo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a central African country that is extremely rich in natural resources but has had continued struggle with political instability. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was once renowned in Africa for its network of clinics, quality of physicians, and primary health care system, but the political collapse has changed this situation.
In 2011, DRC established the One Health Coordination Committee (CCUS) chaired and coordinated by the Ministry of Higher and University Education. The mission of the CCUS is to facilitate, coordinate and harmonize actions for the implementation of “One Health” strategy to better prevent, detect and respond to epidemics and epizootic diseases in a multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral context.
